6th Annual Ushers Day: 4/2/2007
6TH ANNUAL USHERS’ DAY
The role of an usher involves more than shaking hands, giving out bulletins and passing around offering pans. The ministry of ushering is as important as any other ministry in the church. For too long people have viewed the role of the ushers with little significance. The usher is a great asset to the Pastor. The usher meets the visitors before the Pastor does and what the usher does or refuses to do, determines the individual’s mindset for the duration of the service. It was with this view in mind that, six years ago, the Pastor saw the importance of setting a day apart to showcase our ushers.
After much praying, planning and preparing, on 4th February 2007, we celebrated our 6th Annual Ushers’ Day. The theme for the occasion was, “Serving In His Presence” and all those in attendance were encouraged to make a difference wherever we are by “Serving In His Presence”. Serving in his presence means that what ever we do must be done with the highest degree of excellence.
Delivering the message for the occasion was Bishop Franklin M. Ferguson, Senior Pastor. We praise God for his anointing and his presence during this service.
During this celebration special recognition was given to some of the hard working members of the Usher Ministry for their long, dedicated and faithful service: Brothers: Rollington Ferguson and Felix Walkine; Sisters: Elsie Dean, Ellen Johnson, Dedreanna Bain and Emadle Henfield.
Special presentation was made to Sister Eliza Deleveaux, chairperson of the Usher Ministry, for her dedicated and committed service to this vital ministry of the church.
Sharing in this special time of celebration were: • Hon. Agatha Marcelle, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration & Training; • Hon. Veronica Owens, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology; • Senator Hon. Mr. Carl Bethel; • Mr. Andil LaRoda, Chief Administor of the Public Hospital Authorities; • Mr. & Mrs. Branville McCartney and friends (FNM Candidate for Bamboo Town); • Bishop & Sister Nelson W. Ferguson; • Pastor A. Leroy Maycock, National Director of the Usher Board; • Ushers and members from our Sister Churches including Pastor Kirkland Johnson of Harbour Island; • Sister Helena Petty and members from the Church of God.
